Shift Control Lever Replacement
Removal Procedure1. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
2. Remove the rear air duct front support nuts (1).
3. Remove the console rear support nuts (2).
4. Remove the supports (4).
5. Slide the air duct rearward to remove.
6. Disconnect the automatic transmission control electrical connector.
7. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
8. Remove the shift control linkage from the shift lever.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Drill out the five rivets (2) attaching the control from the body.
11. Remove the automatic transmission control (1) from body.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the automatic transmission control (1) to body.
2. Install the five rivets (2) attaching control to body.
3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
4. Install the shift control linkage to the shift lever.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Connect the electrical connector to automatic transmission control.
7. Install the rear air duct by sliding forward.
8. Install the console rear support (4).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
9. Install the rear air duct front support and console rear support and attaching nuts (1, 2).
- Tighten the rear air duct front support nuts (1) to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.).
- Tighten the console rear support and attaching nuts (2) to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
10. Install the console assembly. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
11. Adjust the shift linkage. Refer to Shift Control Linkage Adjustment.
