63. Converter Housing Assemble

- J 38557 Converter Housing to Pump Assembly Alignment Tool





1. Install the converter housing oil seal (3).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the oil seal screws (2).
- Tighten the bolts to 3 Nm (26 inch lbs.).





3. Install the oil pump to converter housing seal (8).
4. Place the converter housing (6) onto the oil pump assembly (10).
5. Install J 38588-1 into the outer bolt holes.
6. Install the converter housing to oil pump bolts (5) finger tight only.





Notice: Failure to use J 38557 will cause damage to the transmission oil pump when the transmission is operated after assembly.

7. Install J 38557. J 38557 should rest on the oil pump drive gear. Tighten J 38557 by holding the knurled knob and turning the handle.
8. Tighten the oil pump bolts (5).
- Tighten the oil pump bolts (5) to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) in an alternating pattern.
9. Remove the tools.





10. Install the oil pump to adapter case seal (8).
