Inner Adjustment Link Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle at the opposite end from which components are being removed. This will reduce the possibility of the vehicle falling off the hoist.

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the inner tie rod bolt from the rear axle cradle.
3. Remove the inner tie rod from the rear axle cradle.
4. Loosen the rear tie rod adjuster nut to allow for inner tie rod removal.

Important: Count the turns required for removal of the tie rod for re-assembly purposes.

5. Remove the inner tie rod from the adjuster.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Thread the inner tie rod to the adjuster the same number of turns as was required for the removal.
- Tighten the rear tie rod adjuster nut to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the inner tie rod to the rear axle body.
3. Install the inner tie rod bolt to the rear axle body.
- Tighten the inner tie rod bolt to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Adjust the rear toe to specification. Refer to Rear Toe Adjustment.
