Power Steering Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure
1. Place a drain pan under the power steering fluid reservoir. Siphon the power steering fluid from the reservoir to prevent excessive spillage.
3. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement.
4. Remove the gear inlet hose connection from the power steering pump.





5. Remove the fluid reservoir inlet hose clamp.
6. Remove the fluid reservoir inlet hose from the power steering pump.
7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.





8. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket bolts.
9. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket.
10. Remove the power steering pump bolts.
11. Remove the power steering pump.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the power steering pump.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the power steering pump bolts.
- Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket.
4. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket bolts.
- Tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
5. Lower the vehicle.





6. Install the gear inlet hose connection to the power steering pump.
- Tighten the gear inlet hose connection to the power steering pump to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the fluid reservoir hose.
8. Install the fluid reservoir hose clamp to the power steering pump.
- Tighten the fluid reservoir hose clamp to the power steering pump until snug.
9. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement.
10. Refill the power steering fluid reservoir.
11. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System.
