Ignition Coil(s) Replacement (RH Side)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 43301 Coil Pack Remover




1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.

IMPORTANT: Counterhold the fuel hose connections when loosening to prevent damage to the fuel rail.

2. Disconnect the fuel supply hose from the intake manifold.
3. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the intake manifold.
4. Unclip and reposition the heater hoses from the retainer.
5. Remove the heater hose retainer bracket bolt from the intake plenum.
6. Remove the heater hose retainer bracket.
7. Disconnect the coil pack electrical connector.
8. Remove the coil pack retainer bolts.

IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten the J 43301.




9. Thread the J 43301 into the coil pack.
10. With even pressure, lift and remove the coil pack.
11. Remove the J 43301.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Inspect the coil pack seals and spark plug boots for damage or wear.

Replace as necessary.

2. Align the spark plug boots with the spark plugs.
3. Carefully press and seat the coil pack in place.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the coil pack retainer bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the coil pack retainer bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

5. Connect the coil pack electrical connector.
6. Install the heater hose retainer bracket to the intake plenum.
7. Install the heater hose retainer bracket bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the heater hose retainer bracket bolt to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

8. Install and secure the heater hoses to the retainer.

IMPORTANT: Counterhold the fuel hose connections when tightening to prevent damage to the fuel rail.




9. Connect the fuel return hose to the intake manifold.

Tighten
Tighten the fuel return hose to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

10. Connect the fuel supply hose to the intake manifold.

Tighten
Tighten the fuel supply hose to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
