Evaporator Tube Extension Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the compressor hose (1) quick connect fining from the evaporator tube extension.
3. Remove the condenser tube (2) threaded connection from the evaporator tube extension (3).




4. Remove the evaporator tube extension bolt.
5. Remove the evaporator tube extension from the cowl.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the evaporator tube extension:
^ Use new O-rings.
^ Lubricate the new O-rings with mineral oil, 525 viscosity.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the evaporator tube extension bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).




3. Install the condenser tube (2) threaded connection to the evaporator tube extension (3):
^ Use a new O-ring.
^ Lubricate the new O-ring with mineral oil, 525 viscosity.

Tighten
Tighten the connection to 44 N.m (33 lb ft).

4. Install the compressor hose (1) quick connect fitting to the evaporator tube extension.
5. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
6. Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400-A.
