Exhaust System Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the muffler pipe flange bolts.





3. Remove the hanger insulator retainers.
4. Disconnect the pre and post heated oxygen sensor connectors.
5. Remove the rear section of the exhaust system.





6. Remove the hanger insulators from the support rods.





7. Remove the exhaust manifold flange nuts.





8. Remove the catalytic converter support bracket bolts (1).
9. Remove the catalytic converters.
10. Remove the muffler pipe flange gaskets.

Installation Procedure





1. Install a new muffler pipe flange gaskets.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold and secure with the fasteners. Do not tighten the fasteners at this time.





3. Install the catalytic converters to the catalytic converter support bracket (2).
Do not tighten the support bracket bolts (1) at this time.
4. Connect the pre and post oxygen sensor electrical connectors.





5. Install the rear section of the exhaust system.
6. Install the hanger insulators to the support rods at the mufflers.





7. Install the hanger insulators to the support rods at the resonator.





8. Install the exhaust hanger insulator retainers.





9. Install the muffler pipe flange bolts. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.
10. Install the exhaust manifold flange nuts. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.
11. Install the catalytic converter support bracket bolts. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.
12. Inspect all exhaust system clearances. Refer to Exhaust System Clearances.
13. Tighten the exhaust muffler pipe flange bolts, the exhaust manifold flange nuts and the catalytic converter support bracket bolts.
13.1. Tighten the muffler pipe flange bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
13.2. Tighten the exhaust manifold flange nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
13.3. Tighten the catalytic converter support bracket bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
14. Inspect all exhaust system clearances. Refer to Exhaust System Clearances.
15. Start the engine and inspect for leaks.
16. Lower the vehicle.
