Muffler: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the exhaust resonator. Refer to Resonator Replacement.
3. Remove the muffler pipe flange bolts.
4. Remove the hanger insulator retainers.
5. Remove the hanger insulators from the support rods.
6. Remove the muffler.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the muffler.
2. Install the hanger insulators to the support rods.
3. Install the hanger insulator retainers.
4. Install the muffler pipe flange bolts.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the muffler pipe flange bolts.
Tighten the muffler pipe flange bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the exhaust resonator. Refer to Resonator Replacement.
7. Inspect all exhaust system clearances. Refer to Exhaust System Clearances.
8. Start the engine and inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
9. Lower the vehicle.
