Timing Belt Idler Pulley: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Remove intake air resonator. Refer to Intake Air Resonator Replacement in Powertrain Management.
2. Remove the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement.
3. Remove the timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement.
4. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement.
5. Remove the timing belt idler pulley bolt.
6. Remove the timing belt idler pulley (2).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the timing belt idler pulley (2).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the timing belt idler pulley bolt.
Tighten the timing belt idler pulley bolt until snug, the bolt will be tightened to specifications during the timing belt installation and adjustment procedure.
3. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement.
4. Install the timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement
5. Install the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement
6. Install the intake air resonator. Refer to Intake Air Resonator Replacement in Powertrain Management.
