73. Engine Flywheel Installation

1. Install the flywheel to the crankshaft.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Important: Use new flywheel bolts and coat them with thread retaining compound, GM P/N 12345493 or equivalent.

2. Install the flywheel bolts.
^ Counterhold the crankshaft with J 42098.
^ Use the J 36660-A to tighten the flywheel bolts to 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.) on the first pass, 30 degrees on the second pass and 15 degrees on the third pass.
