Glove Compartment Lock Cylinder: Service and Repair




REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the instrument panel compartment.
2. Remove the instrument panel compartment door cover.
3. Remove the instrument panel compartment door handle.
4. Insert the key into lock cylinder.
5. Unseat the retaining tangs from the lock cylinder using a small screwdriver.

IMPORTANT: The cylinder tumblers are spring-loaded and if not retained with the key they will spring out of the cylinder upon removal. If the cylinder is not being replaced, tape the tumblers in place before removing the key. 6. Gently press the cylinder from the back side of the handle out the front.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Gently insert the cylinder with the key inserted into the front of the handle until the retainer tangs have seated.
2. Remove the key.

IMPORTANT: Verify the cylinder installation by applying moderate pressure to the back side of the cylinder. The cylinder should not move from the mounted position.

3. Install the instrument panel compartment door handle.
4. Install the instrument panel compartment door cover.
5. Install the instrument panel compartment.
