Air Bag Systems

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When you first turn ON the ignition, the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic and seat belt pretensioner module (SDM) performs tests to diagnose critical malfunctions within itself. During one portion of these tests, the SDM checks to ensure that it is properly configured for this vehicle. Then, the SDM proceeds with the RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT test to measure the deployment loop resistances to ensure that they are within their respective normal resistance ranges.

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
When the ignition voltage is within the normal operating voltage range, the SDM performs the internal malfunction checks and the SDM checks to ensure that it is properly configured.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The DTC will set when there is a mismatch between the serial data configuration programming request and the SDM determined vehicle system configuration.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The SDM turns ON the AIR BAG warning lamp.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ The DTC will clear when the SDM has determined that the vehicle system configuration matches the serial data configuration programming.
^ A History DTC can be cleared by using a scan tool.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
This DTC indicates that a mismatch exists between the serial data configuration programming request and the SDM determined vehicle system configuration.
