Shock Absorber Replacement (Without B9Q/V4U)
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
3. Disconnect the shock absorber electrical connector from the rear suspension support.
4. Support the lower control arm with a screw jack in order to relieve the spring load,
5. Remove the shock absorber lower nut and bolt.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the top of the shock.
7. Remove the upper mounting nut, retainer and insulator using the J 35669.
8. Compress the shock absorber by hand and remove through the upper control arm.
9. Inspect the upper and lower shock absorber insulators for cracks, tears, or other damage. Replace worn or damaged insulators.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Position the top of the shock absorber with the insulator attached in the suspension support.
2. Install the upper shock insulator, retainer and nut.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the shock absorber lower nut and bolt
- Tighten the upper shock absorber nut to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the lower shock absorber nut to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the electrical connector to the top of the strut.
5. Connect the shock absorber electrical connector to the rear suspension support.
6. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
7. Lower the vehicle.
