Lower Control Arm Replacement (With B9Q/V4U)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the tire and wheel.
3. Remove the road sensing suspension position sensor from the lower control arm.





4. Separate the ball joint from the lower control arm.
5. Remove the lower control arm bushing bolt, brake reaction rod nut, retainer and insulator.
6. Remove the lower control arm from frame.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the lower control arm to the frame.





2. Install the lower control arm bushing bolt, brake reaction rod nut, retainer and insulator. Do not tighten at this time.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the ball joint to the steering knuckle.
- Tighten the ball joint nut to 175 Nm (129 ft. lbs.).

4. Install the road sensing suspension position sensor to the lower control arm.
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
- Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).

6. Lower the vehicle and allow the vehicle to assume proper trim height.
- Tighten the control arm bushing nut to 126 Nm (94 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the control arm bushing horizontal bolt to 157 Nm (116 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the brake reaction rod nut to 126 Nm (116 ft. lbs.).
