Removal Procedure

Caution: Be careful when you handle an Inflatable Restraint side impact sensor (SIS) or Inflatable Restraint side impact sensing module (SISM). Do not strike or jolt the SIS or SISM. Before applying power to the SIS or SISM:
^ Remove any dirt, grease, etc. from the mounting surface.
^ Position the SIS or SISM on the mounting surface.
^ Tighten all of the SIS or SISM fasteners to the specified torque value.
Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary air bag system repairs.





1. Disable the frontal SIR system and the RH side air bag.
2. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (3) from the Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensing Module (SISM) harness connector (4).





3. Disconnect the SDM harness connector (4) from the SISM (5).





4. Remove the SISM mounting fasteners (3).
5. Remove the SISM (4) from the door (5).

Installation Procedure
1. Install the SISM (4) to the door (5).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.





2. Install the SISM mounting fasteners (3).

Tighten
Tighten fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).





3. Install the SISM harness connector (4) to the SISM (5).





4. Install the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (3) to the SISM harness (4) connector.
5. Enable the frontal SIR system and the RH side air bag.
