Throttle Body Spacer: Service and Repair
TOOLS REQUIREDJ 34730-1A Fuel Pressure Gauge
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
Remove the air intake duct (1) clamp (2) from the air cleaner assembly (3).
2. Remove the intake air duct (1) clamp (5) from the MAF sensor (4).
3. Disconnect the transaxle vent hose (2) from the clip attached to the accelerator control cable bracket (1).
Description:
4. Remove the throttle body mount bolts from the throttle body (1).
5. Remove the throttle body.
6. Remove the throttle body spacer bolts from the spacer.
Description:
7. Remove the EGR pipe at throttle body spacer.
Description:
8. Remove the crankcase ventilation pipe at the throttle body spacer.
9. Remove the throttle body spacer (3) and gasket (2) from the intake manifold (4).
IMPORTANT: Use care when cleaning the old gasket from the aluminum surfaces.
10. Clean the throttle body gasket surfaces.
11. Clean the throttle body spacer gasket surfaces.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Description:
1. Install the throttle body spacer gasket and throttle body spacer (3) to the intake manifold (4).
NOTE: Refer to the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Reinstall the throttle body spacer bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the throttle body spacer attaching bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
Description:
3. Reinstall the EGR pipe to the throttle body spacer.
Tighten
Tighten the EGR pipe bolt to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
4. Reinstall the crankcase ventilation pipe at the throttle body spacer.
Description:
5. Install the new gasket (2) and throttle body (1).
Tighten
Tighten the throttle body attaching bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
6. Connect the transaxle vent hose (2) to the clip attached to the accelerator control cable bracket (1).
7. Reinstall the intake air duct (1) clamp (5) to the MAF sensor (4).
8. Install the air intake duct (1) clamp (2) to the air cleaner assembly (3).
Tighten
Tighten the clamps (2), (5), to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
9. Connect the negative battery cable.
10. Reinstall the intake manifold sight shield.
