Accelerator Pedal: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the Right closeout/insulator Panel.
2. Remove the accelerator cable (1) from the accelerator pedal (2).




3. Remove pedal clip retainer (3).
4. Remove the washer (2).
5. Remove the bushings (1).
6. Remove the pedal assembly and note the pedal position.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: The mounting surface between the support and the dash panel must be free of insulation. The carpet and the padding in the pedal area must be positioned to lay flat and be free of wrinkles and bunches.




1. Position the pedal in the same position that it was removed.
2. Reinstall the pedal clip retainer (3).
3. Reinstall the washer (2).
4. Reinstall the bushings (1).

IMPORTANT: Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal. The throttle should operate freely without bind between a full closed and a wide open throttle.




5. Install the accelerator cable (1) from the accelerator pedal (2).
6. Check for a complete throttle opening and closing position.
7. Reinstall the Rt closeout/insulator.
