Master Cylinder Cover/Caps Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement
IMPORTANT: Do not clamp on the master cylinder body.
2. Clamp the flange on the master cylinder body in a vise
3. Drive out the spring pins using a 1/8 inch punch (3).
IMPORTANT: Do not damage the reservoir or the cylinder body (2) when driving out the pins.
4. Remove the reservoir (3) by pulling straight up and away from the cylinder body.
5. Remove the o-rings from the grooves in the reservoir.
6. Inspect the reservoir for cracks or deformation. Replace if damage is found.
7. Clean the reservoir with clean denatured alcohol.
8. Dry the reservoir with unlubricated compressed air.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Lubricate the new o-rings (3) and reservoir bayonets with clean brake fluid.
1. Install the o-rings into the grooves in the reservoir.
2. The o-rings must be properly seated.
3. Install the reservoir (1) to the master cylinder body by pressing straight down by hand into the body.
4. Drive in the spring pins (3) to retain the reservoir using care not to damage the reservoir or the cylinder body.
5. Install the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement
