Instrument Panel (IP) - Removal Procedure

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.

2. Disable the SIR system.
3. Remove the upper trim pad.
4. Remove the steering column opening bracket.
5. Remove the instrument panel cluster.
6. Remove the front dash speaker.
7. Remove the right sound insulator.
8. Remove the storage compartment.
9. Remove the PSIR module.
10. Remove the instrument panel trim plates.
11. Remove the radio.
12. Release the ashtray lock tab and remove the ashtray carrier from the bracket. Disconnect the electrical connector.
13. Remove the headlamp switch.
14. Remove the steering column.
15. Remove the hood latch release handle.
16. Remove the right instrument panel to tie bar fastener (1).




17. Remove the instrument panel to tie bar fasteners (2).
18. Remove the lower instrument panel to bracket fasteners (1).
19. Remove the instrument panel to dash panel fastener (4).
20. Remove the instrument panel to dash panel fasteners (3).
21. Partially remove the instrument panel. Disconnect the electrical connectors. Guide shifter cable through instrument panel.
22. Remove the instrument panel with aid of a helper.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Ensure that the shims at the bottom edge of the instrument panel are intact and fit properly.




1. Partially install the instrument panel.

Guide shifter cable through instrument panel. Connect the electrical connectors.
2. Align the instrument panel to the mounting brackets.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the instrument panel fasteners (3).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

4. Install the instrument panel to dash panel fastener (4).

Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

5. Install the lower instrument panel to bracket fasteners (1).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 11 N.m (97 lb in).

6. Install the instrument panel to tie bar fasteners (2).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




7. Install the right instrument panel to tie bar fastener (1).

Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

8. Install the hood latch release handle.
9. Install the steering column.
10. Install the headlamp switch module.
11. Partially install the ashtray connect the electrical connector.

Install the ashtray carrier to the bracket.
12. Install the radio.
13. Install the instrument panel trim panels.
14. Install the PSIR module.
15. Install the storage compartment.
16. Install the right sound insulator.
17. Install the front dash speaker..
18. Install the instrument panel cluster.
19. Install the steering column opening bracket.
20. Install the upper trim pad.
21. Enable the SIR system. Refer to "Enabling the SIR System" in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
22. Connect the negative battery cable.
