Check Engine Oil Level

This indicator lamp illuminates for a few seconds when the ignition is turned to the ON position. The low oil level indicator lamp is controlled by the engine oil level sensor. The sensor consists of a floating device and a reed contact that is normally switched to ground when the oil level is in the normal operating range. When the oil level goes below the minimum level, as indicated on the oil level dipstick, the reed contacts open signaling the gauge cluster to ground the indicator bulb. The indicator bulb will illuminate only after the reed contacts are open approximately 2 minutes or longer. The bulb stays illuminated for approximately 1 minute or longer depending on how long the reed contacts stay open.
