Resonator Replacement

Removal Procedure

Important: The aid of a helper is necessary for the removal and for the installation of the rear exhaust section.

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.





2. Remove the exhaust muffler front flange bolts.





3. Remove the exhaust pipe hanger insulator retainers (1) from the exhaust system support rods (2) at the front and the rear of the resonator and the mufflers.





4. Remove the hanger insulators from the front and the rear of the resonator (1).
5. Remove the exhaust pipe hanger insulators from the front and the sides of the mufflers (1).





6. Remove the rear exhaust section with the aid of a helper.
7. Remove the exhaust resonator clamps (2) from the exhaust resonator (1).





8. Separate the exhaust resonator from the exhaust muffler pipes.


Installation Procedure





1. Install the exhaust resonator onto the exhaust muffler pipes.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the exhaust resonator clamps (2) onto the exhaust resonator (1).
^ Tighten the exhaust resonator clamp nuts (2) to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).





3. Install the rear exhaust section into place with the aid of a helper.
4. Install the exhaust pipe hanger insulators to the front and the sides of the mufflers (1).





5. Install the exhaust pipe hanger insulators to the front and the rear of the resonator (1).
6. Install the hanger insulator retainers to the support rods at the front and the sides of the resonator and the mufflers.





7. Install the exhaust muffler front flange bolts..
^ Tighten the exhaust muffler front flange bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
8. Check clearances and operate the exhaust system to check for leaks.
9. Lower the vehicle.
