Timing Belt Idler Pulley: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove intake air resonator.
3. Remove the intake plenum.
4. Remove the front timing belt cover.
5. Remove the timing belt.
6. Remove the timing belt idler pulley bolt.





7. Remove the timing belt idler pulley (2).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the timing belt idler pulley (2).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the timing belt idler pulley bolt.
^ Tighten the timing belt idler pulley bolt until snug, the bolt will be tightened to specifications during the timing belt installation and adjustment procedure.
3. Install the timing belt.
4. Install the front timing belt cover.
5. Install the intake plenum.
6. Install the intake air resonator.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
8. Reprogram the applicable accessories. Refer to Reprogramming Accessories After Battery Disconnect in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Warning Indicators.
