Oil Pan Replacement (Lower)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the splash shield bolts.
4. Remove the splash shield.
5. Drain the engine oil.
6. Disconnect the oil level sensor connector.





7. Remove the oil level sensor wire electrical connector C-clip (1) from the upper oil pan.
8. Remove the lower oil pan bolts.





9. Remove the lower oil pan from the upper oil pan.
10. Pull the oil level sensor electrical connector from the upper oil pan.





11. Remove the oil level sensor bolts (if applicable).
12. Remove the oil level sensor from the oil pan (if applicable).
13. Clean the oil pan.
14. Clean the oil pan gasket surfaces.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the oil level sensor to the lower oil pan (if applicable).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





2. Install the oil level sensor bolts (if applicable).
^ Tighten the oil level sensor bolts until fully seated and not stripped.





3. Install the oil pan gasket.
4. Install a new oil level sensor connector O-ring and lubricate with engine oil.
5. Support the lower oil pan.





6. Install the oil level sensor electrical connector through the upper oil pan and retain with the C-clip (1).





7. Install the lower oil pan to the upper oil pan.
8. Install the lower oil pan bolts.
^ Tighten the oil pan bolts to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.).
9. Connect the oil level sensor electrical connector.
10. Install the splash shield.
11. Install the splash shield bolts.
^ Tighten the splash shield bolts until fully seated and not stripped.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Refill the engine oil.
14. Connect the negative battery cable.
15. Reprogram the applicable accessories. Refer to Reprogramming Accessories After Battery Disconnect in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Warning Indicators.
