Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.

2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
3. Remove the center console.
4. Remove the steering column opening bracket.
5. Remove the instrument panel cluster.
6. Remove the front dash speaker.
7. Remove the right sound insulator.
8. Remove the storage compartment.
9. Remove the PSIR module.
10. Remove the IP trim plates.
11. Remove the headlamp switch.
12. Remove the steering column.
13. Remove the hood latch release handle.




14. Remove the right IP to tie bar fastener (1).
15. Remove the IP to tie bar fasteners (2).
16. Remove the lower IP to bracket fasteners (1).
17. Remove the IP to dash panel fastener (4).
18. Remove the instrument panel to dash panel fasteners (3).
19. Partially remove the IP.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.
20. Remove the instrument panel with aid of a helper.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Ensure that the shims at the bottom edge of the instrument panel are intact and fit properly.




1. Partially install the instrument panel. Connect the electrical connectors.
2. Align the IP to the mounting brackets.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the instrument panel fasteners (3).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

4. Install the P to dash panel fastener (4).

Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

5. Install the lower IP to bracket fasteners (1).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 11 Nm (97 lb in).

6. Install the IP to tie bar fasteners (2).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 Nm (18 lb in).




7. Install the right IP to tie bar fastener (1).

Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

8. Install the hood latch release handle.
9. Install the steering column.
10. Install the headlamp switch.
11. Install the IP trim panels.
12. Install the PSIR module.
13. Install the storage compartment.
14. Install the right sound insulator.
15. Install the front dash speaker.
16. Install the instrument panel cluster.
17. Install the steering column opening bracket.
18. Install the center console.
19. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
20. Connect the negative battery cable.
