Circuit Operation - Steering Wheel Controls
The steering wheel radio, HVAC, and cellular telephone (if installed) controls consist of two components: steering wheel radio, HVAC, cellular telephone (if installed) switches and inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. The steering wheel switches control functions of the radio, climate control, and cellular telephone (if installed). These switches are actually a ladder network consisting of the switches and a series of resistors. The ladder network is arranged so that each switch has a different resistance. This circuit configuration allows a different voltage input to the instrument cluster for each radio, HVAC, and cellular telephone (if installed) switch pressed.
