Alarm System Triggers when Unlocking Door with Key (Replace Anti-Theft Switches)

Models:

1998 Cadillac DeVille, Eldorado
1998 Pontiac Bonneville
with RPO UA6

Condition

Some customers may comment that the vehicle theft deterrent system activates when unlocking the door with a key.

Cause

This condition may be due to moisture entering into the anti-theft switch.

Correction

Replace existing door lock cylinder anti-theft switches in both front doors with new design component (see P/N listed), using the service procedure.

Important:
Window must be in the full up position. To Remove Door Lock Cylinder Anti-Theft Switch

1. Gain access to the door lock cylinder by removing the door trim panel.

2. Pull back water deflector.

3. Remove clip and lock rod from pawl on door lock cylinder.

4. Remove retainer and door lock cylinder switch (anti-theft switch) from door lock cylinder. Disconnect connector.

To Install Door Lock Cylinder Anti-Theft Switch

1. Reverse the above procedures.
