Steering Wheel Inflator Module Coil

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Always disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system when servicing the SIR components, or the SIR wiring. Failure to follow the disabling procedures could result in possible deployment, personal injury, or otherwise unneeded SIR system repairs.

1. Disable SIR system.
2. Remove the steering wheel.




3. Remove the upper steering column cover screw caps.
4. Remove the steering column cover screws.
5. Remove the steering column cover.
6. Remove the steering wheel tilt lever.
7. Remove the rubber protective cover from the ignition lock cylinder.




8. Remove the lower steering column cover screws.
9. Remove the lower steering column cover.




10. Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector.
11. Remove the SIR coil.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the SIR coil.




2. Connect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector.
3. Center the SIR coil.
4. Install the lower steering column cover.




5. Install the lower steering column cover screws.
6. Install the rubber protective cover to the ignition lock cylinder.
7. Install the steering wheel tilt lever.
8. Install the upper steering column cover.
9. Install the upper steering column cover screws.




10. Install the upper steering column cover screw caps.
11. Install the steering wheel.
12. Enable SIR system.
