Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal.
2. Remove the accelerator cable retainer.
3. Squeeze the accelerator cable cover tangs. Then, push the cable through the dash panel (bulkhead).
4. Remove the accelerator cable from the accelerator cable bracket and the throttle body lever.

INSTALLATION

Important: Do not route flexible components (hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) within 50 mm (2 in) of moving pants unless the can be securely fastened. This is necessary in order to prevent possible interference and damage to the component.

1. Install the accelerator cable at the throttle body lever and the accelerator cable bracket.

Notice: Route the accelerator cable through the groove in throttle body lever. Securely seat the accelerator cable.

2. Route the accelerator cable under the brake master cylinder and through the dash.
3. Secure the retainer at the dash.

Notice: Check for unrestricted and complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal in order to prevent vehicle damage. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full closed and wide open throttle.

4. Secure the cable at the accelerator pedal.
