Fuel Filter: Service and Repair
CAUTION: Place a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher near work area before attempting any On-Vehicle Service.REMOVAL
1. Keep a shop cloth and a container ready to capture any spilled fuel.
2. Loosen the fuel filler cap.
3. Perform the Fuel Pressure Release procedure.
4. Firmly grasp the fuel filter and remove both of the bolts at the fuel line fittings.
5. Loosen the fuel filter retaining strap.
6. Remove the fuel filter from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Remove the protective caps from the new filter.
2. Install the filter in the retaining strap noting the direction of the flow that is indicated on the filter. Install the new filter in the same position as the old filter.
3. Clean the fittings on both of the fuel lines and on both of the bolts.
4. lnstall/tighten the bolts at the fuel line fittings.
5. Install the fuel filter bracket mounting bolt.
6. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
7. Crank the engine for a few seconds (if the engine starts, turn off the engine) and then check for any fuel leaks.
