At Each Fuel Fill
ENGINE OIL LEVELThe Low Oil indicator lamp should be used as a back-up warning system and should not take the place of periodically checking the oil level. Check the level. Add oil if necessary. Check the engine oil level when the oil is warm. After stopping the engine with the vehicle on a level surface, wait a few minutes for the oil to drain back to the oil pan. Pull out the oil level indicator (dipstick). Wipe it clean. Push it back down all the way. Pull out the oil level indicator keeping the tip down. Look at the oil level on it. Add oil if needed to keep the oil level above the ADD line and within the cross-hatched operating range area. Avoid ovenfilling. Overfilling may cause engine damage. Push the oil level indicator back down all the way after taking the reading. If you check the oil level when the oil is cold, do not run the engine first. The cold oil will not drain fast enough to give a true oil level.
ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL AND CONDITION
The Low Coolant indicator lamp informs the driver when the engine coolant level becomes low. This indicator lamp should not take the place of periodically checking the engine coolant. Check the engine coolant level in the coolant reservoir. The level should be at the KALT/COLD mark (reservoir seam). Add 50/50 mixture of coolant and water if necessary, to correct fluid level. Refer to Recommended Fluids and, Lubricants in this section for proper coolant. Inspect the coolant. Replace the coolant if dirty or if required as normal maintenance.
WINDSHIELD WASHER SOLVENT LEVEL
The Low Washer indicator lamp informs the driver if the washer solvent is low. Check the washer solvent level in the reservoir any time the hood is opened. Add solvent if necessary.
HOOD LATCH OPERATION
Note the operation of the secondary latch when opening the hood. It should keep the hood from opening all the way when the primary latch is released. Check that the hood closes firmly.
