DTC 51 Reprogram Cluster/Cluster Malfunction:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The calibrations for the instrument cluster are stored in EEPROM. When the ignition is first turned ON, the instrument cluster performs internal tests on the EEPROM and can determine the integrity of the EEPROM's non - volatile memory. A DTC 51 indicates that the EEPROM is either not programmed or an internal malfunction exists.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.
2. This step reprograms the instrument cluster using the scan tool.
3. If the programming procedure failed in the previous step, the most likely problem is an internal fault to the cluster. Before replacing the cluster, the power and ground circuits should be checked.
4. All DTCs should be cleared to prevent any future misdiagnosis.
