File In Section: 10 - Body

Bulletin No.: 83-10-97

Date: August, 1998

Subject:
Heated Seats do not Become Warm Enough
(Install Jumper Harness)

Models:
1997 Cadillac DeVille1 Eldorado, Seville
with KA1 Heated Seats

Condition

Some customers may comment that the heated seat does not become warm enough. During normal diagnostics, technician finds heated seat operates normally.

Correction

Install jumper harness, P/N 25680104. A new jumper harness has been released that is installed in line with the heated seat temperature sensor. This jumper allows the heated seats to achieve a higher temperature before cycling the heating elements off.

Repair Procedure

1. Remove the seat to obtain access to the seat heater harness under the bottom seat cushion. Refer to Section 10-10 of the 1997 Service Manual.

2. Locate harness connector C1 (see Figure 1, Item 3) which is the 4-wire connector in the harness between the heated seat relay module and the seat cushion heating element. Refer to Cell 143 in Section 8A of the 1997 Service Manual for further information.

3. Disconnect the 4-wire connector.

4. Install the jumper harness, P/N 25680104, between the connectors disconnected in Step 3.

5. Use 3 cable ties to secure the harness to the seat bottom. Make sure the harness does not contact any moving parts.

6. Reinstall the seat. Refer to Section 10-10 in the 1997 Service Manual.

7. Test the heated seats to ensure proper operation.
