Accelerator Cable Replacement
Removal ProcedureNotice: Numbers in text correspond to numbered components in image.
1. Remove the accelerator cable (1) from the accelerator pedal (2).
2. Remove the accelerator cable retainer (3).
Accelerator Cable And Throttle Body:
3. Squeeze accelerator cable cover tangs and push cable through dash panel (bulkhead).
4. Remove the accelerator cable from the accelerator cable bracket.
Notice: Cruise throttle cam not shown in image.
Removing Accelerator Cable From Throttle Body:
5. Hold the throttle valve open completely.
6. Push the accelerator cable (1) towards the intake manifold (2) until released.
Important: Do Not kink accelerator cable. Do Not use a screwdriver or other sharp tool for removing cable.
7. Remove the accelerator cable at the throttle body lever (3).
Installation Procedure
Notice: To prevent possible interference, flexible components (hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) must not be routed within 50 mm (2 in.) of moving parts unless routing is positively controlled.
Important: Accelerator cable must be routed through groove in throttle body lever and seated securely.
1. Hold the throttle valve open completely.

Installing Accelerator Cable To Throttle Body:
2. Push the accelerator cable (1) into the throttle body lever (2).
3. Pull accelerator cable until a snap is heard, indicating that the accelerator cable is seated.
Throttle Valve (Shown Open):
4. Throttle valve shown open.
5. Disconnect and connect the cruise control cable the same way.
6. Route the accelerator cable under brake master cylinder and through the dash panel (bulkhead).
7. Secure retainer at dash.
8. Secure cable at accelerator pedal.
Important: Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full closed and wide open throttle.
9. Check for a complete throttle opening and closing positions.
