C1760
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension (CVRSS) position sensor provides an analog voltage (0 to 5 volts) to the CVRSS control module which represents the position between the body and wheel. The CVRSS control module provides the sensor with an 8 volt supply. The sensor is also grounded through the CVRSS control module.
CONDITION FOR SETTING THE CODE "CURRENT"
The CVRSS control module measures the position sensor signal voltage below 0.35 volts or above 4.75 volts for more than 1 second.
ACTIONS TAKEN WHEN CODE SETS "CURRENT"
^ CVRSS will enter the "Speed Dependent" damping mode.
^ Both ICCS2 Datalink Outputs will be set to default output states.
^ "SERVICE RIDE CONTROL" message will be displayed.
CONDITION FOR CODE TURNING "HISTORY"
The CVRSS control module senses a voltage in the normal range (0.35 to 4.75 volts) for more than 1 second.
HOW TO CLEAR THE CODE
^ Use the scan tool.
^ Use the On-Board diagnostic "CLEAR RSS CODES" feature.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. Checks to see if the sensor supply line is faulted.
3. Checks for mechanical problems.
4. Checks for low voltage fault condition.
5. Checks for an open in the supply or signal lines.
6. Checks for:
a) A short between the sensor ground and signal line,
b) A short between the sensor signal and chassis ground.
7. Checks for high voltage fault condition.
8. Checks for a short to battery voltage on the sensor signal line.
9. Checks for a short between the sensor signal and supply lines.
10. Checks for an open in ground line.
11. Checks for an open in the controller to ground path.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
This fault condition may be set due to the CVRSS position sensor supply over-current fault. If this is the case, the position sensor supply over-current fault (C1768) must be diagnosed first.
