CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The extended travel brake switch is used by the EBTCM to determine that the driver has depressed the brake pedal far enough to initiate actual braking, as opposed to merely brushing or tapping the brake pedal. The PCM sends this information to the EBTCM by broadcasting a Class 2 message.

CONDITION FOR SETTING THE DTC
The DTC can be set any time the ignition is in the RUN position, and the PCM detected an extended travel brake switch failure.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
A malfunction DTC is stored, ABS and TCS remain enabled, Stabilitrak is disabled and the STABILITY REDUCED message will be displayed on the DIC.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
Condition for DTC is no longer present and scan tool clear DTC function is used Fifty start cycles have passed with no DTCs detected.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
If the extended travel brake switch is not properly adjusted, the driver may experience longer Stabilitrak~ brake pedal pulsation's before normal brake pedal feel is returned. Stabilitrak~ brake pedal pulsation is different than ABS brake pedal pulsation. Stabilitrak~ brake pedal pulsation is of a much higher frequency and less pedal travel fluctuation.
