Circuit Description:
When a key is inserted in the ignition, contacts located in the ignition cylinder contact the resistor pellet in the key. The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) measures the resistance of the key pellet and then compares it to the one stored in the IPCs memory.

DTC Will Set When:
The IPC does not have a valid key pellet resistance in its memory, and a correct one has not been "learned" with in 2 seconds of power up.

DTC Will Clear When:
The IPC "learns" a valid key pellet resistance and stores it in its memory.

Action Taken (by The IPC):
This IPC displays "Pass Key not Programmed" on the DIC.
