B2711
Diagnostic Chart:
Wiring Diagram:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
When a key is inserted in the ignition, contacts located in the ignition cylinder contact the resistor pellet in the key. The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) measures the resistance of the key pellet and then compares it to the one stored in the IPCs memory.
DTC Will Set When:
B2710 indicates that an open or zero resistance value was read from the key pellet prior to obtaining a valid resistance reading.
B2711 indicates that an open or zero resistance value was read from the key pellet following a valid resistance reading.
Action Taken (By IPC):
When DTC B2710 is current the IPC displays Starting Disabled, Due to Theft System, Remove ignition Key" on the DIC and prevent the vehicle from starting.
When DTC B2711 is current the IPC displays "Theft System Car May Not Restart" on the DIC and Allows the vehicle to continue to run.
