DTC MSM B1982 And B1983:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Battery voltage is applied at the Memory Seat Module (MSM) connector C2 terminal D. The Memory Seat Module (MSM) checks the battery voltage to determine if it within a valid operating range.
CONDITIONS FOR SELLING THE DTC
^ DTC MSM Bl982 sets when the battery voltage is above 15.5 volts.
^ DTC MSM B1983 sets when the battery voltage falls below 9 volts.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
For DTC MSM B1983, the MSM will try to "write" the status of this DTC to EEPROM and then no other "writes" to EEPROM will occur white this DTC is current.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
^ DTC MSM B1982 will clear when the battery voltage is less than 15 volts.
^ DTC MSM B1983 will clear when the battery voltage is greater than 9.5 volts.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ These DTCs will disable the setting of most other MSM DTCs.
^ DTC MSM B1982 may set when the vehicle is placed on a battery charger, on fast charge, for a long period of time.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to step numbers on the diagnostic table.
