B1982 & B1983 MMM - Mirror
DTC MMM B1982 And B1983:
DTC MMM B1982 And B1983:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Battery voltage (B+) is applied at the Memory Mirror Module (MMM) connector terminal E1. The Memory Mirror Module (MMM) checks the battery voltage (B+) to determine if it is within a valid operating range.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
^ DTC MMM B1982 sets when the battery voltage (B+) is above 15.5 volts.
^ DTC MMM B1983 sets when the battery voltage (B+) falls below 9 volts.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
For DTC MMM B1983, the MMM will try to "write" the status of this DTC to EEPROM and then no other "writes" to EEPROM will occur while this DTC is current.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
^ DTC MMM B1982 will clear when the battery voltage (B+) is less than 15 volts.
^ DTC MMM B1983 will clear when the battery voltage (B+) is greater than 9.5 volts.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ These DTCs will disable the setting of most other MMM DTCs.
^ DTC MMM B1982 may set when the vehicle is placed on a battery charger, on fast charge, for a long period of time.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to step numbers on the diagnostic table.
1. This test checks to make sure the DTC was not set erroneously.
2. This test determines whether the malfunction is in the charging system or the MMM.
