B1552 Keep Alive Memory (KAM)

Circuit Description:
DTC B1552 indicates that the keep Alive, or battery-backed memory has been reset. It is a Normal occurrence whenever power or ground is removed from the IPC, such as battery disconnected and reconnected.

DTC Will Set When:
This DTC will set if the Class-2 serial data link is shorted and the Body Control Module (PZM) attempts to go to Low Power mode (approximately 20 minutes after key OFF). If PZM DTC B1552 is Also current, a battery disconnect has most likely occurred.

Action Taken (By IPC):
When this DTC is set, IPC KAM data (Trip Odometer, Tuner) is reset to initial values. Average Fuel Economy, Fuel Used, and Average MPH will be reset to zero. If the vehicle battery is disconnected, the Climate control will display 73' set temperature, "Auto" mode and "Auto" fan speed. If only the IPC has been disconnected. the Climate control should return the previous settings. This assumes the key is turned to RUN with power applied to the IPC.

Troubleshooting Hints:
^ If B1552 sets without an apparent battery disconnect, check for good terminal contact at IPC connector C1 terminals "A1," "B1," "A12," and "B12."
