Fuel Pipe Replacement

Fuel Tank Installation:




Under Car:









FUEL PIPE-FUEL FILTER TO FUEL SENDER

NOTICE: If nylon fuel feed or return pipes become kinked, and cannot be straightened, they must be replaced. Do Not attempt to repair sections of nylon fuel pipes. If damaged, replace.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery terminal.
2. Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel System Pressure Relief Procedure.
3. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
4. Quick-connect fittings at fuel feed and return pipes. Refer to Fuel Filter (In-Line) Replacement Procedure.
5. Hardware retaining section of pipe to be replaced.

^ Note location of attaching hardware for installation.

6. Fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement.
7. Section of pipe to be replaced.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

CAUTION: To Reduce the Risk of Fire and Personal Injury:
^ If nylon fuel pipes are nicked, scratched or damaged during installation, they must be replaced.
^ When installing new fuel pipes, Do Not hammer directly on the fuel harness body clips as it may damage the nylon pipes resulting in a possible fuel leak.
^ Before connecting fuel pipe fittings, always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe ends. This will ensure proper reconnection and prevent a possible fuel leak. (During normal operation, the O-rings located in the female connector will swell and may prevent proper reconnection if not lubricated.)

1. Position new fuel pipe in original location.
2. Remove protective caps from fuel pipe.
3. Apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male connector pipe end.
4. Quick-connect fitting at fuel sender.
a. Push connector together to cause the retaining tabs/fingers to snap into place.
b. Once installed, pull on both ends of connection to make sure connection is secure.
5. Fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement.
6. Retaining hardware.
7. Repeat connect procedure for fuel filter fuel pipe quick-connect fitting.
8. Lower vehicle.
9. Tighten fuel filler cap.
10. Negative battery terminal.

INSPECT
Turn ignition switch to 'ON' position for two seconds, then turn to 'OFF' for five seconds. Again, turn to 'ON' position and check for fuel leaks.
