Valve Cover: Service and Repair

LEFT SIDE
1. Disconnect both battery cables, then partially drain cooling system.
2. Disconnect upper radiator hose at water crossover, then the spark plug wires.
3. Remove right cooling fan, then disconnect PCV fresh air tube from cam cover.
4. Remove right and left torque struts, then disconnect water pump drive belt.
5. Remove water pump pulley using tools shown in Fig. 11.
6. Remove camshaft seal retainer screws, then seal.
7. Disconnect battery cable retainer at front of valve cover, then remove valve cover retaining screws.
8. Remove valve cover as shown in Fig. 12.
9. Reverse procedure to install.

RIGHT SIDE
1. Disconnect both battery cables, then remove tower to tower brace.
2. Disconnect DIS wiring connectors and mounting bolts, then remove DIS and right bank spark plug wires.
3. Disconnect PCV valve, then remove purge canister solenoid from rear of cover.
4. Remove wiring harness from cover, then the cam cover mounting screws.
5. Support front of engine cradle and remove front cradle mounting screws.
6. Remove right and left torque struts.
7. Lower engine cradle to provide clearance at rear of engine compartment.
8. Remove cam cover.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
