"Stop Engine - Low Oil Pressure" Message
Wiring Diagram:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The IPC supplies and monitors voltage on pin "D5" to determine if the oil pressure switch is providing a ground. The oil pressure switch closes at oil pressure below 3 psi, indicating low oil pressure. Under normal engine running conditions the oil pressure switch will be open. If the IPC sees the oil pressure switch has closed (low oil pressure) for 2 seconds, and the PCM communicates that the engine is running, the IPC will display the "STOP ENGINE - OIL PRESSURE" message in the DIC.
NOTE: The IPC only knows if the engine is running by communicating with the PCM. If communications is lost (Code I034), the IPC will assume the engine is running. Therefore, this message will display at KEY ON / ENGINE OFF whenever code 1034 is current. If Code I034 is stored, diagnose this code first.
TEST CONDITION(S)
1. The engine has been running for more than 4 seconds.
FAILURE CONDITION(S)
1. Oil pressure input is grounded.
2. PCM indicates engine is running.
ACTION TAKEN
1. Display "STOP ENGINE - OIL PRESSURE" message on the IPC Driver Information Center.
2. Turn on ENGINE OIL telltale (Export/Canadian only).
3. Warning chime sounds.
