Code I056 indicates that the IPC EEPROM, which records elapsed odometer mileage, is not being read by the IPC. "ERROR" will be displayed in place of the mileage on the IPC while code I056 is set. Verify harness connection and PROM insertion. If connections are good, the IPC must be replaced. The IPC should be serviced by an authorized Delco repair station, which will require vehicle VIN, mileage (if known), and option information. Consult most recent service information for service procedures.
