"Engine Coolant Hot - Idle Engine" Message
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The IPC monitors coolant temperature as reported by the PCM over serial data. When the PCM reports coolant temperature greater than 126°C, the IPC will display the "ENGINE COOLANT HOT - IDLE ENGINE" message. This message will continued to be displayed until coolant temperature falls below 121°C. This message will not be displayed if the IPC cannot communicate with the PCM (Code I034) or if the PCM sees a coolant sensor failure (Code E014 / E015).
TEST CONDITION(S)
1. Communications with PCM not failed (no Code I034).
2. Coolant Sensor is not failed.
FAILURE CONDITION(S)
1. Engine coolant temperature greater than 126°C. Remain failed till coolant temp below 121°C.
ACTION TAKEN
1. Display "ENGINE COOLANT HOT - IDLE ENGINE" message.
DIAGNOSIS
Refer to engine overheat diagnosis in ENGINE.
