Manual Shaft/Park Lock Actuator Replace
MANUAL SHAFT/PARK LOCK ACTUATOR REPLACE 4T80-E TRANSAXLEREMOVAL
Refer to the image when servicing he manual shaft/park lock actuator assemblies.
1. Remove transaxle range switch as outlined, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove bottom pan and gasket, scavenger screens and seals as outlined.
3. Remove lower controls assembly as outlined.
4. Remove detent spring. Grasp detent roller end of spring with pliers to remove.
5. Remove detent roller bolt, pivot arm, sleeve and washer.
6. Remove manual shaft nut. Detent lever must be held in place when removing nut to prevent damage to actuator rod.
7. Remove detent lever and actuator rod. Discard detent lever as it is not reusable.
8. Remove manual shaft, then lower vehicle.
9. Remove seal and washer.
10. Inspect actuator guide for excessive wear and actuator rod for cracked end, bent rod or broken spring.
INSTALLATION
1. Install new manual shaft seal into case, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Install manual shaft, then seat manual shaft (flush with case) seal with appropriate socket.
3. Attach new detent lever and actuator rod to manual shaft and hold detent lever in place with a screwdriver to prevent bending of actuator rod. Install manual shaft nut and torque to 20-25 ft. lbs.
4. Install detent roller washer, pivot arm and sleeves.
5. Install detent roller assembly bolt and torque to 98-125 inch lbs.
6. Install detent return spring to detent roller assembly and manual shaft.
7. Install lower controls assembly as outlined.
8. Install bottom pan and gasket, scavenger screens and lip seals as outlined. Lower vehicle.
9. Add transaxle fluid as outlined.
10. Reset transaxle oil life indicator, if a complete fluid change was necessary, as outlined.
