Change Trans Fluid

PCM Circuits:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calculates a Transaxle Fluid Life Index using transaxle temperature and engine state (running or off). The Transaxle Fluid Life Index represents the remaining useful transaxle fluid life as a percentage of total life. When transaxle fluid life reaches 0%, the "CHANGE TRANS FLUID" message will appear.

The Transaxle Fluid Life Index is stored in non-volatile memory in the PCM and will not reset if battery power is lost or the PCM is removed. Transaxle fluid life may be changed through PCM override PS15.

TEST CONDITION(S):
None.

FAILURE CONDITION(S):
Transaxle Fluid Life Index reaches 0%.

ACTION TAKEN:
PCM turns "ON" the "CHANGE TRANS FLUID" message.

DIAGNOSIS:
Change transaxle fluid and reset Transaxle Fluid Life Index to 100 using PCM override PS15.
