"Change Oil Soon" or "Change Engine Oil" Message

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

The IPC calculates an OIL LIFE LEFT (remaining useful percentage of oil life) using coolant temperature, engine speed, and vehicle speed. When oil life reaches 10% or mileage since last oil change reaches 6750 miles, the "CHANGE OIL SOON" message will be displayed. When oil life reaches 0% the "CHANGE ENGINE OIL message will be displayed.

OIL LIFE LEFT may be reset by displaying the OIL LIFE LEFT (press "Information" button) and then pressing and holding the "RESET" button for approximately 5 seconds. When the value is reset, 100 will be displayed for the OIL LIFE LEFT

TEST CONDITION(S)

None.

FAILURE CONDITION(S)

1. OIL LIFE LEFT is less than 3% or more than 6750 miles since last reset (CHANGE OIL SOON).

2. OIL LIFE LEFT is equal to 0 (CHANGE ENGINE OIL).

ACTION TAKEN

1. Display "CHANGE OIL SOON" OR "CHANGE ENGINE OIL message on the IPC Driver Information Center.
