P065

DTC P065:

Cruise Control Circuit:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Code P065 will detect a cruise control servo position sensor failure. The cruise position sensor is a variable inductance sensor whose inductance changes with servo position. Code P065 sets when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects a low servo position signal indicating an open or short in the cruise servo position sensor circuit.

TEST CONDITION
Test continuously.

FAILURE CONDITION
Cruise control servo position 1.9% or less for 0.9 second (PD70).

ACTION TAKEN
PCM disables cruise control.

NOTES ON FAULT TREE
1. Checking if the cruise control feedback is a value that it should never be even with the servo fully released (0 to 2).
2. Checking if PCM and circuitry to the cruise control servo are OK (measure 4.6 to 5.1 volts).
3. Checking CKT 399 for an open.
4. Checking CKT 398 for an open.
5. Checking CKT 398 for a short to ground. If wire OK, PCM is open internally.
6. Checking if cruise control servo is operating normally. If feedback is greater than 30, the servo is operating correctly.
