S030

TEST CONDITIONS:

The RSS module monitors the SSS Solenoid PWM and feedback circuits. The feedback value (SD06) must be within 15% of the commanded PWM (SD05) after 30 MPH.

FAULT CONDITIONS:

If the feedback value is not within 15% of the commanded PWM after 30 MPH code S030 is set.

ACTION TAKEN:

Set code S030, turn on "SERVICE RIDE CONTROL" message, full assist.

DESCRIPTION:

If the SSS feedback is not within 10% of the commanded PWM, then this error code is activated. If the feedback current is less than required, the SSS routine will demand a greater on time until the maximum duty cycle reaches the maximum limit. If the feedback current is greater than required, the SSS routine will demand a lower on time until the duty cycle reaches the minimum limit. By design, detection of an open circuit will not occur unless a sufficient current is demanded. Demand current is based on vehicle speed.

NOTES ON FAULT TREE:

1. Refer to notes on intermittents. To diagnose this condition:

^ Enter output cycling
^ Manipulate affected wiring
^ Recheck for codes.

2. If SSS return (circuit 1703) is shorted to battery and cluster operates properly without a "NO PCM DATA" message, code S030 will be set if car is driven over 30 MPH.

If SSS solenoid (circuit 1738) is shorted to battery and cluster operates properly without a "NO PCM DATA" message, no RTD codes will be set.

3. Replace steering system fluid filter whenever the SSS steering assist solenoid valve is replaced.

4. If SSS solenoid (circuit 1738) is shorted to ground, ignition fuse to RSS module will blow and no codes will be set.

WHEN ALL DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS ARE COMPLETE, CLEAR CODES AND VERIFY OPERATION.
